Description
1. Introduction
Amlong-1O is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive drug containing amlodipine and olmesartan. It is used when single-drug therapy does not adequately control blood pressure.
2. Pharmacological Classification
Amlodipine: Dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker
Olmesartan: Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)
3. Mechanism of Action
Amlodipine:
Inhibits L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle
Causes peripheral vasodilation
Decreases peripheral resistance
Olmesartan:
Selectively blocks AT₁ receptors
Prevents action of angiotensin II
Reduces vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion
Lowers blood pressure
