Category: Combined Oral Contraceptive (Birth Control Pill)

Uses:

• Prevention of pregnancy (oral contraception)
• Treatment of irregular menstrual periods
• May also be prescribed for certain hormone-related conditions such as acne or premenstrual symptoms in selected women.

How it Works:

• Prevents ovulation (release of an egg).
• Thickens cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to reach the egg.
• Changes the uterine lining, reducing the chance of implantation.

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea
• Headache
• Breast tenderness
• Irregular or breakthrough bleeding
• Mood changes
• Vaginal discharge

Precautions:

• Take one tablet daily at the same time each day.
• Do not use during pregnancy.
• Smoking significantly increases the risk of serious cardiovascular events, especially in women over 35 years of age.
• Inform your doctor if you have a history of blood clots, liver disease, uncontrolled hypertension, migraine with aura, or breast cancer.
