Anafortan-N is used to treat colicky and spasmodic pain such as menstrual cramps, abdominal cramps, renal colic, and intestinal spasms.
Hyoscine relieves muscle spasm, while paracetamol reduces pain and fever.
It is usually taken as prescribed by a doctor and should not exceed the recommended dose due to the risk of liver damage from paracetamol.
Description
1. Composition
Anafortan-N contains:
Hyoscine Butylbromide (10 mg) – anticholinergic antispasmodic
Paracetamol (500 mg) – analgesic and antipyretic
2. Mechanism of Action
Hyoscine butylbromide blocks muscarinic receptors in smooth muscles → reduces spasms in the gastrointestinal, biliary, and genitourinary tract.
Paracetamol acts centrally in the brain → inhibits prostaglandin synthesis → relieves pain and reduces fever.
